Arunachal Monastic Circuit

The largest monastery in India and the second-largest in the world, Tawang Monastery is alive with chants, monk footsteps, and sacred echoes. Over 450 monks reside here.

Birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama - this quiet, humble gompa is where Tsangyang Gyatso was born. Small, sacred, and serene.

Perched above the valley, Bomdila Monastery is the spiritual center for the West Kameng region. Morning prayers blend dawn chill with incense warmth.

One of Arunachal's least-known monastic jewels, Chilipam sits precariously on a forested ridge. The setting is divine, surrounded by silence and clouds.

"You'll need a guide to reach it. But you won't want to leave."

Just kilometers from Bhutan and Tibet border, Gorsam Chorten is modeled after Nepal's Boudhanath but far more secluded. Few tourists reach here.

Wander ancient stone alleys of Dirang Dzong — a fortified village with Buddhist roots — then walk to nearby Kalachakra monastery.
